Gotye + Passion Pit

What's more exciting than the release of a hotly anticipated second album? More hype producing than a leaked track from one of the biggest names? And even better than discovering the next big thing in your local bar? Well. It's when two of your very 'bestest' musicians collide together, especially when it's totally unexpected.

Gotye + Passion Pit= learnalilgivenanlovin amazingness

Most Australian's know and love Gotye to bits, but Wally's school report card would say he is yet to live up to his "international potential". Enter learnalilgivenanlovin 7" stage left. This is his first American release and to sweeten the deal and create some buzz they have included the Passion Pit remix. Not reaaaaaally what I expected when I heard bout it. Think more of a classic dance vibe and less the kooky hand clap pop-ness of Manners. But hey, its a whole lot of fun.

The Reeling

This is the song that I woke up to today....so its sorta fitting that I post it now. As you may remember I totally loved the first single off Passion Pit's Manners and have been really looking forward to hearing the rest. And then a funny thing happened...I read a blog bout this song and it was a bad review. And so I thought...no...you know what I won't listen to it. Strange I know. And thhhhen...I heard it on the radio a few thousand times and realised that I really do love it, maybe almost as much as Sleepyhead. So the moral of the story is quite simply: Don't believe everything you read, and always check it out for yourself.

This one has been given the Calvin Harris treatment. It's good.

Sleepyhead

Another track that has been zooming round for a while. Haven't heard a cuter melody in ages. A friend put me on to it a month or so a go, and just like pregnant ladies it keeps popping up everywhere now! Passion Pit are a dance-pop crew out of Massachusetts who released their first EP in September of 2008. Apparently, the tracks on this CD were originally intended as a Valentines gift from "front man" Michael Angelakos to his girl friend. But after a few people at his college caught a listen...the rest is history and here I am in Sydney listening every day. Sweet story, true or not!
Anyway, stay tuned as they have just finished their debut studio album which should be out in a couple of months.
