"At the end of the day you want to go in there and collectivley make a good record"
Wow. Usually when I hear a song for the first time it just washes over me. I find it hard to tell whether it's any good until a couple more listens. I found this "teaser" for Kings of Leon's upcoming album on YouTube and I cannot stop listening to it , totally falling in love straight away! Although its only a small snippet of a song which is apparently called Use Somebody, it has made me very very excited for the release of the album Only By The Night on September 23. The track seems to be a textbook rock ballad, that probably could have been sung by anyone from Dave Grohl to Bryan Adams. But with the Followill family's trademark croaky vocals there is every trace of emotion without any of the cheesiness.
Crawl is another track that is supposed to be taken from Only By The Night and couldn't;t be more different from what is shown in the teaser video. With a heavily distorted baseline and more intense vocals, when listened back-to-back these tracks show just how diverse the band really is. True to form, it has taken me more than a week to start liking this one and I must admit that at first I was a little disappointed. Now I reckon it's a solid track which is slow to build to a very nice Hendrix-esq solo at the end.
